Support Kidspace United!

Dear Kidspace Children’s Museum Board of Directors and Leadership,

As members of the community, we stand by your staff who are forming their union, Kidspace United through AFSCME Council 36. Kidspace Children’s Museum is a special place for educational enrichment and youth development in our community. We recognize that the incredible programs and services that benefit our families and future generations would not be possible without the dedicated, talented, and passionate staff who work on the frontlines and behind the scenes to keep the museum running.

Workers have a legal right to freely organize their union. We call on Kidspace Children’s Museum leadership to maintain a safe and respectful environment in which staff may speak and advocate for union without fear of retaliation. We also ask that leadership remain neutral throughout the union organizing process and, upon demonstration of majority support, respect workers’ wishes by recognizing their union voluntarily. Nonprofit institutions and cultural institutions in Los Angeles County such as Museum of Contemporary Art, Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, and Academy Foundation of Motion Pictures all voluntarily recognized their workers’ unions, and we urge you to follow their suit and recognize Kidspace United.

By supporting Kidspace Children’s Museum workers and their clear path toward union recognition, you will be demonstrating your commitment to building a better museum for future generations and the people of Pasadena.

In solidarity,
